Professional Development & Professional Learning Communities

Workshops and one-time trainings alone don’t move the needle. Both research and my two decades of experience confirm that long-term implementation and collaboration are what truly transform writing instruction—and, in turn, student performance on assessments like the NJSLA-ELA.

Professional Development Workshops
These dynamic, two- or three-hour sessions are designed for larger groups and focus on actionable strategies that reduce teacher stress while building student voice and confidence in writing. Each session is interactive, customized to your district’s needs, and grounded in best practices for elevating literacy.

Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
PLCs are one-hour, small-group sessions that foster collaboration, reflection, and growth. They often complement workshops, allowing teachers to dive deeper into the strategies introduced and apply them in their classrooms with ongoing support.

When schools choose monthly PLCs, we engage in a full coaching cycle: identifying writing goals, learning new strategies, implementing them, collecting data, reflecting, and refining instruction together.

Curriculum Design

I create research-driven pacing guides that not only raise standardized writing scores but also ignite a love of writing in students. The PD and PLC components work alongside curriculum design to ensure teachers feel confident and supported all year long—not just during “test prep” season.
